CityServe
Let’s say a church, for whatever reason, has to close her doors and shut down ministry in an area. Three things can be said of such a church by those in her area:
- Who closed?
- Good riddance!
- Bummer! They were good to have around.
If the response is not #3, then something’s wrong. The people of God are supposed to be a blessing to the world. CityLife Church wants to be a blessing to the Twin Cities by serving the needs of the cities.
So, we’re building relationships with individuals, other churches, our new neighbors around Charles and Fry, and organizations already doing good work for the people of Minneapolis and St. Paul to see where we can help.
Our initial foray into our neighborhood will come Saturday, October 24th, when we will rake leaves for those needing help with that and have a chili supper for all who’ll come eat with us. If you are near The Central Mission (intersection of Charles and Fry in St. Paul) and could use help with your yard–or know someone in the area who does–please contact us.
Here’s the schedule for Saturday:
2:30 Meet at church
2:45-5:30 Raking leaves around the neighborhood
6-8(ish) Chili eating and competing (prize for best chili!) and social time
Contact Jake (stric061 @umn.edu) or Becky (becky.hampton @gmail.com) with questions or to sign-up your time, chili, rakes, leaf-bags, etc.
