Do’s & Don’t’s

Do come early to be greeted, get settled, and familiarize yourself with the space and the service order.

Do expect to participate in the service.  We’ll be standing and sitting and maybe kneeling at times.  We’ll be thoughtfully silent in some moments and exuberantly loud in others.  We’ll speak to God in prayer and confession and praise and hear from God through the reading and preaching of his word. We’ll sing together.  We’ll share a (symbolic) meal together.  So, come ready to engage.

Do plan to stay after the service for snacks and mingling.  A church is a community, primarily, and that’s a great way to begin to be built into it.

Do meet our pastors, Bart and Chad, and feel free to ask them anything.  And set up a meeting for coffee or lunch during the week.  They love that—the lunch/coffee AND getting to know new people.

Do check out our LifeGroups and CityServe ministry opportunities.  These are integral parts of our community life together.

Do visit more than once.  That’s the only way to get a real sense of what’s going on among us.

Don’t worry if you don’t know songs or ‘get’ everything.  Like any community, it takes some time to settle in, build relationships, and get comfortable with the flow.  Expect that and allow for it.

Don’t feel pressure to participate in anything in the service with which you’re not comfortable.  Feel free to observe and disagree and ask questions and think on it.

Don’t expect to give anything financially if you’re visiting.  You’re our guest, and it’s our pleasure to host you.
